Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique which involves the insertion of fine, sterile, single-use needles into specific points on the body.  The needles direct the Qi, or vital energy, to flow freely throughout the body to promote natural healing and balance.  The initial visit usually takes 90 minutes and includes a thorough health history interview, physical exam and treatment as well as discussion/recommendations for lifestyle enhancements, nutritional recommendations and herbal formulas.  The fee for the initial visit is $75.  Follow-up visits usually last about an hour and are $50.  NADA treatments, which are generally for supporting people through substance abuse detoxification, recovery from addictions and PTSD, are different from regular acupuncture treatments.  Five ear points are needled, there is no intake or exam, and anonymity is respected.  NADA treatments are $15 and may be done in a group setting.  Call or email for more details.  While I do not file insurance claims, I can provide you with a health insurance claim form.  Please check with your insurance provider to see if acupuncture is covered.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine is one of the oldest treatment modalities known.  Unlike western herbology, Chinese herbology rarely uses single herbs, but instead, relies on combining medicinal substances into formulas which are carefully balanced to reduce side effects.  Herbal medicine can enhance the efficacy of acupuncture treatments and can be a powerful adjunct to acupuncture care.  Herbal linaments, poultices and plasters may also be used externally for musculoskeletal injuries and other topical applications.  If an herbal formula is prescribed, there is an herbal consultation fee of $15-$30 which includes the cost of the herbs.  A new patient herbal consultation without acupuncture is usually around half an hour and is $50 including herbs.
